If reinforcement is offered for acceptance before concreting based on plastic spacer labels, the actual distance to formwork may remain unchecked. In this hypothetical situation some spacers have shifted and stirrups run near a corner, while photographs measure to a main bar rather than the reinforcement nearest the surface.
A strong specimen result must be linked to the concrete it represents. Suppose several deliveries were placed that day, specimen labels conflict with the placement grid log and rebound results lack a stated strength correlation.
If screed is declared ready for parquet merely because a stated period elapsed, readiness may remain unverified. Suppose heating began recently, thickness varies near services and records contain only unexplained surface readings.
Before covering façade insulation, a contractor may request acceptance based on a few overview photographs. Some boards remain accessible, but the photographs do not resolve layer thickness, joints around brackets or individual fasteners.
A defect marked complete: was the underlying problem corrected?
Suppose a house defect list marks an item as remedied but attaches only photographs of new finishes. A repeat inspection must distinguish evidence of actual correction from a change in appearance.
Attic moisture appears only after wind-driven rain
If attic damp marks appear only with a particular wind direction rather than after every rainfall, a dry acceptance-day inspection does not exclude a problem. A focused examination should connect each episode with its location, weather and accessible construction features, without naming a particular roof junction as the cause in advance.
