Questions for checking a house and construction works
What should be checked at handover?
The foundations and perimeter apron, geometry of walls and floor structures, roofing, façades, windows, building services and available documentation.
Which works are concealed?
Check concealed works records and photographs of construction stages. If structures are covered, their condition cannot be reliably established by visual inspection alone.
What should the brief include?
State the address, floor area, construction stage, purpose of the check, questions, available documents and preferred form of deliverable.
Are tests needed?
Measurements using instruments, opening up and laboratory checks are agreed separately based on the task and access.
