Contract and certificates
Retain the construction contract, appendix containing the brief, cost estimate, handover certificates, payment records and warranty documents.
Documenting defects
Prepare dated photographs, correspondence, enquiries and responses, inspection records and information about remedial work.
Questions and deadlines
The formulation of claims and procedural deadlines depend on the specific contract and circumstances; an extrajudicial inspection report does not replace a court-ordered expert examination.
Submission of materials
Provide copies of documents and information about third parties only to the extent necessary and where a lawful basis exists.
